Firefighter Visit!

This morning, three Georgetown Township firefighters came to visit our school! Firefighters Matt, Dwayne and Les talked with our class and Mrs. Stutz’s class about fire safety. Our kindergarteners were in awe of the firefighters’ uniforms, tools, and knowledge!

Here are some of the fire safety tips that we learned about today:

  • Check the smoke detectors in your house to make sure they work properly.
  • Talk about a safety plan for your family in case of a fire – where is your meeting spot?
  • Call 911 immediately!
  • Do not play with matches – they are dangerous and can cause fires!
  • If a part of your clothing or your body catches on fire, STOP, DROP, and ROLL.

The firefighters also showed us all of the components of their heavy uniforms.

We even got to see the fire truck and all of it’s secret compartments that store special tools. The firefighters put on the lights and siren for us too!

If your child would like to spend more time with the Georgetown Firefighters, they will be having an open house celebration this THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5 at 6:30 PM at FIRE STATION 1. There will be popcorn, the children can sit in a fire truck, and firefighters will be there to answer questions!

Thank you, Georgetown Township Firefighters, for a great visit!
