Our First Week of Kindergarten!

We had a great first week in kindergarten!

We had a fun-filled week! These are some of the things we did…

We met a new friend named Pete the Cat, read a fun story about him and made first day of kindergarten headbands!

We learned where we hang up our backpacks, keep our beach towels (which we will use next week), keep our gym shoes and where our mailboxes are.

We learned about the letters A, B and C!

Our principal, Mr. Waldie, came and read us an Elephant and Piggie book. He even had a mask with Elephant and Piggie on it! We loved it, the characters in the book were so funny and it was nice to have him visit our room!

We read books about characters making good and bad choices. We learned that we want to make good (green) choices and not bad (red) choices. We sorted some pictures and decided if they were green or red choices.

We had fun playing with Play-Doh!

We read a cute story about wearing masks called Smiling from Ear to Ear and a new story by LeBron James called I Promise. We also read a lot of fun back to school books!

We finished the week making a craft! We made Pete the Cat’s shoes. We learned the rules for using scissors and glue and then used both of those tools. I was so impressed, they did a great job with their new tools and following directions! Way to go Kinders, I’m so proud of you!

We had such a fun first week at school! Have a wonderful weekend! I’m excited to see the Kinders on Monday!

Clever

This year on the back of your Kinder’s take home folder you will find a page that looks like the picture above. It has your child’s Clever badge, login and password. This information will get them into our Clever site on our class blog. Specific details on how to log in will be sent at a later time. Please leave the information page in the back cover of the blue take home folder. Thank you!!

Sack Lunch Option

On early release days you have the option to order a sack lunch for your child from our food service program. If you choose to order a sack lunch, your Kinder will be sent home with a sack lunch which consists of a ham and cheese croissant sandwich, veggies, fruit and milk. They will charge your child’s hot lunch account.

If you would like your Kinder to bring a lunch home next week for any of our early release days, please email me to let me know. In kindergarten, I don’t order a sack lunch for the kids to bring home unless I get an email from the parents. If I don’t hear from you, I’ll plan on your child eating lunch at home.

Porch Pick-Up

I’m looking forward to meeting my kindergarteners tomorrow at our Porch Pick-Up!! If you have any school supplies (crayons, glue sticks, tissues, labeled gym shoes) feel free to drop them off at my house during the porch pick-up. This way the Kinders won’t have so much to carry on that first day. Please label things that you are sending in or dropping off. Can’t wait to see you!!

Take a Peek at Our Kindergarten Classroom!

This is what our classroom looks like…

Welcome to Mrs. Baker’s Kindergarten Classroom!

If you are visiting my blog it’s likely because you’ll be in my room this year! I am THRILLED to welcome you and your child to my classroom!  This will be the spot for you to check for updates.  With our current climate, I am hoping you will make a habit of checking it often. However, you can ALWAYS email me at jbaker4@hpseagle.net with ANY questions.

Unfortunately, we have not had the opportunity to meet during an Open House this year.  There are some items that we typically give you at Open House.  I would LOVE to still get those items to you.  I am going to do a little unconventional way this year…a Teacher Porch Pickup.  You can drive by my house and see where I live….I might even live in your neighborhood or near you. I put details of this in the email I sent to each of you.  I will be handing out the Open House Packet and an At Home Learning Bag.  Please watch for a video and pictures of our classroom coming soon!

A few things…

  • Please fill out this survey about your kindergartener. It will help me to learn more about him/her. All About Your Kindergartener
  • Here is the supply list for kindergarten that Mr. Waldie sent out. School Supply List
  • Sign up for email updates by filling in your e-mail address in the subscribe by e-mail rectangle located on the upper left side of our blog.

Our class blog will be the site for information about school supplies, special events, pictures, curriculum, assessments, and so much more.

Be sure to sign up for blog updates so that you stay informed. This will be my primary way of communicating with parents throughout the year.

Feel free to contact me through email (jbaker4@hpseagles.net) if you have any questions or concerns prior to the first day of school.

Take Care,

Mrs. Baker
